Sacramento

Sacramento - CapitolSacramento is the capital of the U.S. state of California and the county seat of the county of the same name.

Its location at the confluence of the Sacramento and American Rivers gives it a rich natural backdrop to go with its important cultural, economic, and political influence.

The city is home to several museums, including the California State Railroad Museum, the California State Capitol Museum, and the Crocker Art Museum.

Sacramento is also home to many theaters, including the Sacramento Theatre Company and the Sacramento Music Circus.

Fantasyland at Disneyland

Disneyland - Walt Disney and Sleeping Beauty CastleThe Disney resort is practically in my backyard. My family and I love to spend a whole day or just a few hours at the Disney parks. Throughout the years we learned a lot about the parks and attractions that we like to share with you.

A visit to Disneyland is not complete without a visit to the sleeping beauty castle, a ride on the flying elephant Dumbo or a trip around "it's a small world".

Tip: Do you have small children but you don't want to miss out on the thrilling rides? Use the child swap service. Read more here.

Switzer Falls

Switzer Falls California - at the poolWalking through this gully in the San Gabriel mountains, it is hard to believe I am still in drought-stricken Southern California.

Right from the start of this hike to Switzer Falls, I can hear the sounds of running water and birds declaring their contentment with this hidden nature enclave.

The trail starts from the Switzer picnic area in the Angeles National Forest and is about half an hour drive from downtown Los Angeles.

LA Arboretum

LA Arboretum lush gardenWe landed at the Arboretum by mistake, and I am glad we did. I passed this place many times on my way to hikes close by but never stopped to explore.

On this day, we were heading to Eaton Canyon for a great waterfall hike but were blocked by a roaring stream with a dangerous crossing. So we decided to check out this botanic garden in Arcadia.

The 127-acres beautifully landscaped garden is nestled against the San Gabrial mountains. It provides a sanctuary of nature, where flora and fauna thrive in harmony, and visitors can escape the urban chaos and immerse themselves in the beauty of the natural world.

Boston USS Constitution Ship

Boston harbor USS Constitution - by Elmschrat Coaching38 - Wikimedia One of the most iconic pieces of American history still afloat today is docked in the heart of Boston Harbor. During our trip, we made sure to visit the legendary USS Constitution, known as "Old Ironsides," a proud reminder of the country’s early naval strength.

Approaching the USS Constitution for the first time is a moment to remember. The ship, built in 1797, still stands proudly with towering masts, polished wooden decks, and historic cannons lining the sides. It's the world's oldest commissioned warship still afloat—and it’s still manned by active-duty U.S. Navy sailors.
