My journey to the summit was guided by a decision that enriched the experience with historical insights and cultural depth. Despite its popularity, the path to the peak presents its own set of challenges, notably the steep ascent that tests the resolve of each adventurer. Yet, the allure of the panoramic views from the summit propels hikers forward, promising a reward that far outweighs the effort.

The city of Brea started as a village for oil field workers, at the peak of the Black Gold (petrol) rush, but when the oil boom became the oil bust, Brea became a citrus producer with orange and lemon fields instead of drilling fields.

Fun Fact: Did you know that the first significant oil well in California, the Pico No. 4, was discovered in 1876, long before the boom in Brea? This discovery marked the beginning of California's oil industry, which would later lead to the development of towns like Brea.

The transition from oil fields to citrus orchards in Brea is a classic example of how communities evolve with changing economic landscapes. The citrus industry played a significant role in Brea's economy until the mid-20th century.

You can still see some oil drills on the hills above Brea, but they are dwindling.

I heard a lot about escape rooms but never participated until recently when I visited the Mission Escape Games location at the Garden Walk, Anaheim.

Did you know? The concept of escape rooms was inspired by "escape-the-room"–style video games. It's a live-action game that brings virtual puzzles to the real world.

I fell in love with the games right away. It is a great way to spend an hour and a half having fun with friends and family and using your brain to solve puzzles.

If you haven’t tried an escape room yet, here is an explanation: It is a game in which a team of players discovers clues, solves puzzles, and accomplishes tasks in one or more rooms to accomplish a specific goal in a limited amount of time.
